Who should attend?
NHSS12D M7 is for Supervisory, Management, Designers, Client Officers, Technicians and any person who does not actually install temporary traffic management (TTM) but requires knowledge of basic practice. M7 skill holders will be able to inspect
12D TTM type sites and review 12D TTM plans. 12D M7 is a mandatory requirement for Technical Officers and the Organizations Temporary Traffic Management Manager see the National Highway Sector Scheme (NHSS) Document requirements.
What will be covered?
On completion of this course learners will be able to:
Interpret the requirements of ‘The Safety at Street Works and Road Works, A Code of Practice (The Red Book)’ and further guidance from ‘The Traffic Signs Manual, Chapter 8’
Consider all options available to determine the level and the extent of the Temporary Traffic Management required
Provide technical support to site staff
Demonstrate knowledge of the temporary traffic management assessment process • Assess and determine temporary traffic layout required for a given work location, activity or operation
Understand the standard of equipment that is acceptable to use • Understand the implications of changing conditions on site
Determine the suitability of temporary traffic management plans prior to work starting on site
Other areas of interest
The 12D M7 course does not cover high speed road schemes in static temporary traffic management (12A/B) or mobile lane closures (12C).
While the M7 course does include aspects of the other 12D modules (M1 Mobile Works Operative, M2 Traffic Control on Single Carriageways, M3 Low Speed Dual Carriageways, M4 Convoy Working, M5 Multiphase Traffic Signals, M6 Supervising 12D Works) it does not refresh or qualify the attendees to carry out any of these operations on site.
