Prerequisites: If you are new to industry or do not hold other current NHSS 12ABCD Temporary Traffic Management skills registration cards/certificates you will need to complete and hold a valid TTMBC category.
You are required to gain 3 months ‘on the job’ experience prior to attending the 12AB General Operative course.
M7 is a stand alone category and does remove the requirement for TTMBC
Introduction
NHSS12AB General Operative – Static Temporary Traffic Management on Motorways and High Speed Dual Carriageways. 12AB Trainee category allows you to work on motorways and high speed carriageways under a qualified 12B Lead Traffic Management Operative or 12A Foreman, a fully qualified 12AB General Operative can actively operate as a member of a TTM installation crew

Who should attend?
This course has been designed for persons employed in the temporary traffic management industry to gain knowledge and practical skills to carry out their responsibilities for installing, maintaining and removing TTM on motorways and high-speed dual carriageways to the required standard
What will be covered?
On completion of this course you will:
- be aware of the process to become a 12A/B Traffic Management Operative
- be aware of current reference documentation
- be aware of health and safety requirements and their obligations
- be aware of the specification of equipment required for 12AB lane closures
- be aware of safe working practices in temporary traffic management
Other areas of interest
Full 12AB General Operative status can be gained by completing the 12AB General Operative course and a minimum of 3 practical assessments The assessments must be completed within a two year period starting from the date of the 1st assessment. The registration as an NHSS12A/B Operative will only become effective if both the 12A/B logbook of assessments has been completed AND the one day General Operative course certificate/skill is still valid.
